Who is behind PIS, and how to verify it.

Operator and status

PIS is operated by an independent, pseudonymous operator — an analyst with an institutional background — not by a company, agency, or government body. There is no legal entity behind this site: no GmbH, no Ltd, no foundation. That is deliberate and is stated plainly so no reader mistakes PIS for something it is not.

Consequence: some jurisdictions require commercial websites to publish a legal-person imprint. PIS cannot truthfully name a legal person it is not. This page is the honest substitute — who operates the service, how to verify identity cryptographically, and how to reach the operator — published instead of a fiction.

Verification

Pseudonymous does not mean unverifiable. The operator signs with a PGP key whose fingerprint is published in more than one place, so a communication claiming to be from PIS can be checked against the key before it is trusted.

Funding and spending

PIS is reader-funded. Money buys collection and compute and nothing else — no salaries, no marketing, no office. The funding section of the homepage names the concrete gaps a contribution closes and says so when a line is closed. Nothing on that page is a plan; it is the current state.

Editorial independence and record

PIS holds no relationship with any government body and collects only open sources (see Limits). The published record — every briefing in the archive, and every correction — is kept intact and unedited, so the track record can be checked rather than asserted.

Reaching the operator

Open channel (non-sensitive): the contact form on the homepage.
Confidential (anonymous): the Tor tip line and PGP-encrypted mail described under Share information on the homepage.
Law enforcement / legal: use the same channels; encrypted mail is preferred and is answered.
